Request a Police Report

You may request a copy of a report you have already filed with the College of New Jersey Campus Police Department. Please see the link below.

Please DO NOT use the request form to report an emergency or to file a new report. If this is an emergency, please contact TCNJPD at 609-771-2345 or 911.

Please Note: if you dial 911, it will connect you to the New Jersey State Police Headquarters, and you will ultimately be put in contact with the police department whose jurisdiction you are in at that time.

Request Process

All requests take approximately 7 to 15 business days (excludes weekends and closures) for standard report requests to be processed. To avoid unnecessary delays, provide the TCNJPD case number (police report number) on your request form. Reports more than 3 years old may require additional processing time.

Reports can be picked up at the TCNJPD service window. Be prepared to present photo identification.

Copies of privileged/confidential police reports cannot be sent by fax or email.

DISCOVERY Requests

Attorneys or insurance companies interested in obtaining police reports for DISCOVERY should send a DISCOVERY REQUEST LETTER or an ACCIDENT REPORT REQUEST LETTER to:

All requests for discovery by attorneys or insurance companies must be made in writing and must be made on the official letterhead of the firm or individual making the request.

*Copies of police reports will not be processed without a written or electronic request. It is the responsibility of the involved parties to make this request in writing or via our online form.

OPRA Requests

The Office of General Counsel is responsible for coordinating open public record (OPRA) requests.

A list of insurance companies authorized to do business in New Jersey and their code numbers are listed on the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission webpage.
